I want you to meet our first ever group of Key Women! It is the first step in seeing a dream come true.
We have had Empart Training Centres for men since 1998 – and these girls are our first graduates from our first ever Women’s Training Centre.
Key Women are trained to be door openers for transformation – they are unlocking doors of opportunity in their communities, bringing practical and spiritual transformation. Their natural affinity is towards other women, as they prepare meals, drink chai and generally do life together. And we all know that transformation is most effective when it starts with the women of the community!
Women in India generally have a tough life, one that starts from birth when they are undervalued simply because they are girls. The countless women I have met have never heard or understood their incredible worth and value.
My dream is to see hundreds – thousands – of these Key Women released into communities all over North India. Key Women can go where you and I can’t. They carry a message of hope to other women, a message of value and purpose that has never before been told in these communities. They go equipped with skills to teach a better way of life, unlocking previously unknown opportunities and dreams.
The Key Women will put in endless woman-hours needed to work in these communities. They will walk miles in dusty conditions, live sacrificially in tiny rooms, often with just one change of clothes. And they will do it with a joy that you can’t believe even when you actually see it in action!
Even as I write I am filled with an urgency to do more to help them! Compared to them my home is big, my wardrobe is stuffed and my car is comfortable.
